Jamie Elder was born in Hollywood Fl. where she began her interest in the entertainment industry. At the age of three, she was introduced to ballet and tap. At the age of five, her love for music started to come about and she was determined to learn how to play the piano. She took lessons from various instructors, but her ear for music prevented her from wanting to read sheet music. All she wanted to do, was play by ear. She had a natural talent.
As she got older, she took jazz and acrobatics at Emerald Hills Dance Studio where she then decided to take voice lessons. She fell in love. The recitals and the performances gained her love for the stage. When she moved to Palm Beach Gardens, she continued to take voice and dance in Hollywood, but it was becoming too much of a hassle. It was too far away. She had to discontinue until she found something closer. She discovered a voice coach of the name Frederick Capitelli, and decided to try him out. He was everything she had hoped for. She had found someone who could teach her everything she needed to know about music. At the same time, Jamie's father gave her the idea to do beauty pageants. She had always strived to be a model, and this would be perfect to develop her from a girl into a young lady. And it did. But, it wasn't enough. Beauty Pageants weren't for her. She wanted to put her looks to good use.
A name popped in her mother's head. It was Olympia Devine. An old neighbor who owned a modeling, talent agency in West Palm Beach. She had composite cards made, and was trained to enter the industry. She became so caught up in school and modeling, she decided to take a break from singing. Devine Talent kept her busy with work. Mostly local fashion shows at downtown clubs. Pretty exciting for a fifteen year old.
As some time passed, Jamie was confused about what to do with her future. She thought about heading off to college as soon as she graduated. She also thought about working in the entertainment industry. She was unsure about her life, where it was headed and what she was going to do with it. She strived for a scholarship, which paid off by her outstanding grades and her academic activities. That's right. Not only does she have talent, but she's got a smart head on her shoulders. She set high goals and was determined to achieve them. But, she still was unsure what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She didn't want to make the wrong choices. Jamie continued her life that revolved around school, singing, and modeling, until one day when she was at the Alan Jackson video shoot, "It's five o'clock somewhere". She saw a group of film students learning about making music videos. She had an interesting conversation with one of the students that changed her whole outlook of her life.
Jamie had decided to attend Palm Beach Community College's Film Program. While she worked hard for a degree, she also decided to sign a management contract with Fred Capitelli and his Record Label Agreement for Oz Records. She began to write her own music, and for the first time, heard her works of art come to life in the recording studio. She then thought it would be a great idea as a singer to Direct and Produce her own music video, "This Dream is Real"...and she did. In the winter of 2005, Jamie graduated with an Associates in Science Degree in "Television & Film". She is currently apart of the reality series, the "Oz Road Tour" which was aired on Pax TV and is now airing on the W.B. Although she has been focusing and working hard to pursue a singing career, Jamie plans to get back in the modeling and acting industry as well, and also strives to start her own production company called, J.M.E. Productions, where she will hopefully Direct and Produce more of her own music videos and other recording artists' as well. |
